The Valley Forge Flag Micro Solar Light is a good product for illuminating flags at night. The light automatically turns on at dusk and turns off at dawn. It has a solar panel that charges during the day, but the battery may not hold enough charge to last through the night during the long winter nights. The product has a coiled wire that can get as long as 10 inches to connect to the charging unit. The solar panel can be cleaned with windex to maintain the product. This product works great for a 4.5' pole and probably reaches 9', but it would be very light. The light casts a cool bright light and has a dimension of 4x6. However, the product has a few drawbacks. The light only stays on for a few hours, about 7-8 hours, and some customers state that it illuminates only about five feet. The light is made of cheap plastic, which requires careful handling, and the wire needs to be heavier for outdoor flagpole applications. The product is manufactured in the USA, but the parts are sourced from various countries.
